Find out if you’re eligible to participate in the Colorado Democratic caucus and assembly process and learn what it’s all about.
What is caucus and assembly?

At county assembly, you'll sign up to be a state assembly delegate. At state assembly, you'll vote to put Amanda on the ballot.
Who can caucus?
To be eligible to participate and vote in the Democratic caucus and assembly, you must be:

In Colorado, the Democratic Party uses the caucus and assembly process to decide who gets on the primary ballot. It starts at your local precinct caucus, where you can volunteer to be a delegate to county assembly.
From there, you can choose to continue as a delegate to state assembly, where delegates vote on which candidates make the ballot.
To help Amanda qualify, we need supporters like you to go all the way to state and vote for her there.
-
As a candidate for Secretary of State, Amanda needs delegates to vote for her at State Assembly. That means, depending on where you live, you’ll need to attend precinct caucus, county assembly and state assembly. See our caucus tool above for information about whether those are in-person or virtual meetings. State Assembly is in-person on March 28 in Pueblo.

When you attend caucus and assembly, you help decide who makes it onto the Democratic primary ballot. That’s real power for showing up to just a few meetings. Committing to caucus for Amanda is one of the most impactful ways you can help get her elected.

You don’t need to study in advance! At each meeting, you’ll get clear instructions on how to become a delegate and when to vote, usually by raising your hand or filling out a form. The process can take a little time, so we recommend bringing a book or something quiet to pass the time.
We'll also provide training and support along the way. All you need to do is be available to show up and vote!

Yes, it’s possible! If you can make some, but not all three meetings, you may be able to assign someone to be your proxy. There’s an official process for this. Reach out to our team for help: info@amandaforcolorado.com

Just like a county is one part of a state, a precinct is one small part of your city or county. Usually, it’s your immediate neighborhood. Political parties use precincts to organize voters and run things like caucuses.
You’ll need your precinct number to be sure you attend the right caucus. You’ll caucus with people in the same precinct or group of precincts.
-
For the most part you’re listening in to meetings. At precinct caucus, your action is to volunteer to be a delegate to county assembly. At county assembly, you’ll get to 1. Vote on county positions 2. Volunteer to be a delegate to state assembly in Pueblo. 3. Vote on who else gets to be a delegate to state assembly.
-
Yes! If you attend your precinct caucus and get selected to be a county assembly delegate, you can support someone for every race at the county level. The same for state assembly. If you’re a state delegate, you can support a candidate for each state-level position.
-
A delegate is someone who represents their neighborhood at a county and/or state assembly. In practice, being named a Democratic Party delegate means you get to vote on which candidates appear on the Democratic primary ballot. There are different levels: county assembly delegates vote on county-level candidates, and state assembly delegates vote on state-level candidates. To become a county assembly delegate, you have to attend your precinct caucus. To become a state assembly delegate, you first have to be elected as a county assembly delegate.
-
If you want to help Amanda get on the ballot, then you’ll need to say yes to being a county delegate at precinct caucus and yes to being a state delegate at county assembly. If you registered for caucus and unknowingly checked no to being a delegate, no worries. You can still volunteer to be a delegate during caucus and assembly.
